Vesak Day – Candle Light Ceremony for World Peace – May 24, 2013
You are invited to join us in meditation and in spreading the light of World Peace.
Vesak Day is the day that all Buddhists commemorate three episodes of the Buddha’s life.
These three events all happened on the same day. This day was known as The Lord Buddha’s Birth, Enlightenment, and Parinibanna – The Lord Buddha’s passing and entering Nirvana. On this day, Buddhists attend religious ceremonies and perform many meritorious acts.
Schedule:
- 6:00 PM – Registration/Refreshments
- 7:00 PM – Evening Chanting
- 7:45 PM – Meditation
- 8:15 PM – Sanghadana Offering ceremony
- 8:25 PM – Lighting of the ceremonial arch
- 8:35 PM – Candlelit circumambulation to pay homage to the Lord Buddha
- 9:00 PM – Loving-kindness meditation
- 9:15 PM – End of ceremony
